STATIC TAXI: Minneapolis-based band with the
late Bobby Stinson. Click to see the review in City Pages!
Stinson Blvd was recorded between 1988-1990
in three different studios in Minneapolis, MN with the bulk of it done at Gark Recording
Studio with Ezra Gold and Dave Pinsky. This album was released
posthumously in 2000 on our own little Rock-X Change label. As far as
the tunes go, the band forged their sound in a boxcar/rehearsal space, a
story that has circulated regionally between mythical and drunken
proportions (Click to see the Ripsaw review to get an idea of how much certain
fuckers hated/berated Static Taxi-scroll down to "Album Reviews")
In April 2003, Birdman
Records (Los Angeles) released a 10-song Static Taxi CD called Closer 2
Normal. To obtain a copy, visit Midheaven.
Outtake City is an EP of a few out-takes and
alt mixes. It sort of gives new meaning to the term "bootleg" as
it staggers, swaggers, trips and rocks at the same time. Kind of like the
other side of the bottom of the barrel-the actual underside, that is. As good
old Bob Stinson used to say, "We do suck!"
